Article #114: NS 740 w/ D9-40CW's 9024, 9937 & 9814 East Oyama Yard Hickory, NC (May 12, 2016)
In this new article, we will be taking a look at NS 740 sitting at the east end of Oyama Yard in Hickory, NC back on May 12, 2016. The train had three D9-40CW's on the train that day, those were 9024, 9937 and 9814. 740 is a loaded coal that originates in Shire Oaks, PA and terminates at Plant Marshall near Catawba, NC. The train on this day was in the passing siding. It was either tied down, ore waiting on another train for a meet. Back at this time, 740 ran eastbound on the Asheville District from Asheville, NC up to Catawba. Now, the train starts out in Salisbury, NC and runs westbound to Catawba.
