In this new article, we will be taking a look at NS E38 heading southbound through Salisbury, NC back on February 14, 2026. E38 is a Charlotte, NC to Linwood, NC turn where it originates in Charlotte running northbound, and then makes the turn and head southbound back to Charlotte. The lead locomotive on the train this day was AC44C6M 4283. This locomotive started out as D9-40CW 9077, and it was built in March of 1997. It was rebuilt in early 2020.  Here is a side view of 4283.   Here we see the last two cars on the train, consisting of a lumber car (center beam) and a covered hopper.
