Article #110: NS 213 w/ D9-40CW 9967, D9-40C 8869 & SD70M-2 2771 Salisbury, NC (June 18, 2016)
In this new article, we will be taking a look at NS 213 back in June of 2016 going through Salisbury, NC. The train had three units that day, consisting of D9-40CW 9967, D9-40C 8869 & SD70M-2 2771. In the photo above we only see the last two units on the train. the lead locomotive is out of view. 8869 was built in 1995 by GE and was rated at 4,000 horsepower. It ran for twenty-three years on various trains throughout the NS system (1995-2018). It was rebuilt in 2018 where it became AC44C6M 4099. 2771 was built around the time of 2005-2006 by EMD rated at 4,000 horsepower. Back at that time, 213 originated in Rutherford, PA and terminated in Atlanta, GA. The train usually had three units on the head end. When going through Salisbury, the train would head in the southbound direction.
