Article #130: NS P60 w/ ES44AC 8039 Conover, NC (June 10, 2026)

 

In this new article, we are looking at NS P60 heading throuhg Conover, NC eastbound back on June 10, 2026. 

The lead locomotive on the train was ES44AC 8039 pulling around thirty cars. The first few cars on the train were intriguing. They were empty coal cars and gondolas. These kind of cars are not usually on this train, so that made it interesting. This train usually pulls covered hoppers, boxcars and tankers to name a few.

This location is at Milepost 52 on the S-Line right before Hickory, NC. The train was also running long hood forward. This is more of an uncommon thing to see, but on locals it does happen a little more often.
