Article #123: NS 107 w/ D9-40CW 9900 & AC44C6M 4953 Old Fort Loops, NC (April 18, 2026)
After NS 107 made the ceremonial stop and departed the Old Fort depot, it took on the Old Fort Loops. So many trains have ran over the loops over the years, this train was the latest to do so, and there was a lot of excitement around it. Construction of the loops began in the 1870's. Andres Geyser was constructed around 1885. Since Hurrican Helene caused severe damage to this stretch of track, a lot of work was put in, making sure that the tracks were in top condition for the first train back. The train ran over the loops very well.
