Article #121: NS 107 w/ D9-40CW 9900 & AC44C6M 4953 West Oyama Yard Hickory, NC (April 18, 2026)

In this new article, we will be taking a look at NS 107 back on April 18, 2026. This train originated at Oyama Yard in Hickory, NC and ran to Asheville, NC. The train made history by being the first revenue freight train to go to Asheville since Hurrican Helene caused severe damage to the Old Fort Loops back in September of 2024. D9-40CW 9900 and AC44C6M 4953 provided the power and had fifty nine cars. The train departed Oyama Yard a little after 8 am and arrived in Old Fort a little bit later in the morning where it made a ceremonial stop. It was stopped for a little while before making its way towards the Old Fort Loops and Andrews Geyser.

Some cement hoppers and boxcars on the train.
