In this new article, we are looking at the Doris private passenger car on displaty at the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer back on May 16, 2026.

This car was built in 1917 by the Pullman Standard Company. It was named after his only daughter. Duke used this car for leisure trips as well as buisness. It was used for 5 to 7 day trips along the East Coast where it went to places like Florida and Rhode Island to name a couple. This car also included a full staff, including a chef and waiter.

The car eventually was purchased by the Western Pacific Railroad where it was used for executive travel. After that, it passed through various private owners and was donated to the museum in 1979.
