Article #125: Southern Railway E8 #6900 NC Transportation Museum (May 16, 2026)

 

In this new article, we are looking at Southern Railway E8 #6900 at the NC Transportation Museum back on May 16, 2026.

This locomotive was built in September of 1951 by EMD. The original number of this locomotive was #2923. It was renumbered #6900 in 1970 when the railroad consolidated some of it's lines. It ran for over twenty years, most notably on the famous Crescent passenger train. 

It was donated to the museum in 1980 at the same time as fellow locomotive #6133.
