Article #105: NS P60 w/ SD40-2's 3270 & 6123 Hickory, NC (September 1, 2013)
In this new article, we will be taking a look at NS P60 eastbound departing Oyama Yard in Hickory, NC back in September of 2013.
The train had two SD40-2's on that day. 3270 led the way, while 6123 was trailing second. 3270 was built by EMD in January of 1978 for service on the Southern Railway. It ran in Southern for only four years (1978-1982) as they merged with Norfolk & western to create Norfolk Southern. It started out as a high hood locomotive, but then in 2015 it was rebuilt and received an admiral cab.
6123 was built by EMD in May of 1975 for service on the Norfolk & Western. For a long time, it had the standard cab, but then it was rebuilt and it received an admiral cab as well.
