Article #113: Norfolk Southern SD60E 9-1-1 North Carolina Transportation Museum (June 18, 2016)

In this new article, we will be taking a look at Norfolk Southern SD60E 9-1-1 which is the Honoring First Responders locomotive.

This locomotive was unveiled in 2015 to honor first responders. It was rebuilt from an SD60 locomotive built in the 1980's. It features the crescent cab, which is on all of the SD60E's. It also has 4,000 horsepower.

Over time, it has been seen on the safety train, which goes around to different cities along the system. It has also ran on numerous freight trains across the system.

On this day in 2016, it was sitting on display at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer for the Rail Days event.
