Article #112: Norfolk Southern GP38-2 #5145 Oyama Yard Hickory, NC (May 27, 2016)

 

In this new article, we will be taking a look at Norfolk Southern GP38-2 #5145 sitting at Oyama Yard in Hickory, NC back on May 27, 2016.

This locomotive was built in October of 1974 by EMD for service on the Southern Railway. It ran on Southern for 8 years (1974-1982) before the formation of Norfolk Southern. This locomotive has mainly ran on local trains throughout its career. It has the high hood design, which was the design of all other Southern Railway locomotives.

When this photo was taken, it was running on local trains P71 & P95, which originate out of Oyama Yard.
