Article #109: Southern Railway FP7 #6133 NC Transportation Museum (June 18, 2016)
In this new article, we will be taking a look at Southern Railway FP7 #6133 at the North Carolina Transportation Museum back in June of 2016.
It was built by EMD in 1950. The FP7 was designed to operate on both passenger trains and freight trains. It operated on a lot of different lines on the Southern Railway, it notably operated between on Salisbury, NC and Asheville, NC on the S-Line. It has always had the green, white and yellow paint scheme.
It ran for roughly thirty years between 1950 and 1980. In 1980, it was donated to the North Carolina Transportation Museum. Throughout the time it has been at the museum, it has ran on the passenger train a lot. It is for sure one of the main attractions that you will find at the museum.
