Article #91: Southern Railway Boxcar #262914 North Carolina Transportation Museum (May 17, 2025)
In this new article we will be taking a look at Southern Railway boxcar #262914 which is preserved at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC.
This boxcar was built in 1957 by the Pullman Standard Company. It is a double door boxcar given it has two doors on each side.
These boxcars hauled many different goods. That would include general merchandise and other various loads. The advantage of boxcars having double doors would include things like efficient or quick loading and unloading.
It has been sitting in this spot at the museum for a long time.
