Article #85: Amtrak 77 w/ F59PHI 1755 Salisbury Depot, NC (May 17, 2025)

 

In this new article we will be taking a look at Amtrak 77 stopped at the Salisbury, NC depot back on Ma 17, 2025. This is another Piedmont passenger train which operates between Raleigh, NC and Charlotte, NC.

The train departs Raleigh around 3 pm and arrives at Salisbury around 5:40 pm. It gets to Charlotte around 6:20 pm. Then each day, the same train set runs Amtrak 78 back to Raleigh. 

The lead locomotive on the train was F59PH 1871 and on the rear was F59PHI 1755. This is the City of Salisbury locomotive. All of these NCDOT locomotives promote a particular city starting with City of. 

This locomotive was under construction in 119, but the construction was paused when sister locomotive 1797 (City of Asheville) was purchased. 1755 made its Piedmont debut in February of 2002.

The two F59PHI's are still very common on these trains on a daily basis.
