Article #75: Amtrak 75 w/ F59PH #1810 Kannapolis, NC National Train Day (May 11, 2013)
In this new article we will be taking a ook at Amtrak 75 stopped at the station in Kannapolis, NC back on May 11, 2013 which was National Train Day. The lead loconotive on the train this day was F59PH #1810. This locomotive was rebuilt and was actually the first F59PH locomotive. It operated here and there in 2010 and 2011 but started service on a consistent basis in 2012.
It was the third F59H to enter service. Kannapolis is one of many stops for the NCDOT piedmotn trains every day. The city is close to places like Landis, Salisbury and Spencer to name a few. #75 runs between Raleigh, NC and Charlotte, NC running mainly in the afternoon hours. On this day, the train was running in the early evening hours.
