Article #53: Southern Railway GP30 #2601 on Freight NC Transportation Museum Spencer, NC (May 17, 2025)

 

Southern Railway GP30 #2601 ran the freight train at the North Carolina Transportation Museum back on the 17th of this month. #2601 is a GP30 built by EMD in October 1963. It ran on the Southern Railway and Norfolk Southern for nearly 30 years. It arrived at Spencer in 1992 and has been one of the main attractions as far as locomotives.
