Article #44: Norfolk Southern Railway AS-416 #1616 NC Transportation Museum (May 15, 2021)

 

In this new article we get a look at Norfolk Southern Railway AS-416 #1616 at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC on May 15, 2021. It was built by Baldwin in 1955. This locomotive had electrical components which were supplied by General Electric. Later on, #1616 went to the Peabody Coal Company in Illinois. In 1981, it was donated to the stat of North Carolina. Here, it is sitting in the roundhouse.
