Article #2: NS 96Q w/ Training First Responders GP38-2 5642 (February 10, 2020)

 

This is our second article on this blog and in this article we are taking a look at a train from February 10, 2020 and it is NS 96Q which was a work train and here it has Training First Responders GP38-2 5642 eastbound from Asheville, NC. Here it is at the west end of Oyama Yard in Hickory, NC. 96Q at that time ran in and out of Oyama Yard either running to Asheville or to Linwood Yard near Spencer, NC. Common power on this train back then would have been an SD60E, so this locomotive being on the train was unusual, but interesting at the same time.

In this photo, we see the train entering the yard lead track to head into the yard. 

In this last photo, we see the power for locals P95 ad P71 sitting in Oyama Yard along with 96Q entering in the background. The other locomotives are both GP38-3's 5806 & 5837.
